Heaven on Earth

Cast your eyes, beyond this age and time,
Where our work and wonders, yet to climb,
Have stained the sky, with new hues,
Strange and wondrous, that still amuse.

As we unravel, Terra Firma's laws,
Our planet takes on, a new cause,
Greatly transformed, by human invention,
Crafted with nimble, careless intention.

Beaches cleared, to pave a way for dreams,
Valleys carved, by our very schemes,
Lift your head, for the Earth's great art,
Is not just found, in dirt and grassy part.

In this devastation, that we cause,
Amidst our modern, Babylon's applause,
Our triumphs surpass, even the Khmer’s great scale,
But the killing fields, still prevail.

Oh, gracious Gaia, our glorious giver,
The silence of the green, bears a quiver,
Our blunders that, bleed your land,
In exchange for, our comfort and demand.

These pastures of death, serve as a reminder,
In our quest for Olympus, hearts grow blinder,
There has never been a heaven, it is known,
That was not built, upon another's bones.
